Fundraising Ideas

Here are fundraising opportunities to help cover your child’s camp fees.

Families are encouraged to choose the options that best fit their time, skills, and community.

TRADITIONAL

Car Washes
Families can come together to host a one-day car wash in their neighborhood, church, or community parking lot (with permission). When done as a group, families often raise enough to support more than one camper.

Bake Sales
If a local event or organization allows vendor tables, selling baked goods such as cookies, brownies, or cupcakes can be an effective way to raise funds for camp fees.

Pancake Breakfasts
Host a pancake breakfast at a community center, church, or school (with permission). Guests pay a small fee for breakfast, and proceeds go directly toward camp costs.

Soup & Salad or Sandwich Luncheons
Families can host a simple lunch event on a weekend, offering soup, salad, or sandwiches. Charging a modest fee per person (for example, $10) can quickly add up.

Dinner Party Fundraisers
Host a dinner party at home and invite friends and family for a set price per person (for example, $20). Campers can help serve guests. Popular, low-cost meals such as spaghetti or tacos work well.

CONTEMPORARY & DIGITAL

Peer-to-Peer Online Fundraising
Families can create a personal fundraising page using platforms like GoFundMe or Givebutter and share their story with friends, family, and coworkers via social media, email, or text.

Social Media Challenges
Create a simple challenge (for example, “$10 for Camp” or “Sponsor a Camp Day”) and encourage supporters to donate and share the post with others.

Venmo / Cash App Campaigns
Families can share their fundraising goal using Venmo or Cash App with a short message and graphic explaining that donations help send a KODA to camp.

Employer Matching Gifts
Some employers match employee donations to nonprofits. Families should check with their workplaces to see if matching funds are available, which can double donations.

Skill-Based Fundraising
Campers or families can offer services such as:

  • Yard work or gardening

  • Pet sitting or dog walking

  • Babysitting

  • House cleaning or organizing

  • Tutoring or tech help

Supporters donate in exchange for these services.

Community Restaurant Fundraisers
Partner with a local restaurant that offers “give-back nights,” where a percentage of sales during a set time is donated to the camper’s fundraising goal.

Birthday or Milestone Fundraisers
Families can ask friends to donate to camp in place of birthday gifts, holiday gifts, or celebration gifts.

COMMUNITY & ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT

Service Clubs
Families may write to local service organizations such as Kiwanis, Rotary, or Lions Clubs to request sponsorship or donations. These groups often support youth-focused causes.

“I Am a KODA” Campaign Letter
Campers can write personal letters to friends, family, and local businesses explaining what camp means to them and asking for support. A downloadable sample letter is available below.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for families with financial need.

  • Partial scholarships may be awarded to families who can contribute a small fee or raise part of their funds using the ideas above.
